私のYouTubeにコメントをくれる人は、99％外国人である。

通常は私の音を褒めてくれるのものである。それに対しては、ありがとうと感謝の言葉を返している。

それにとどまらないこともある。先日も、二人の人から続けて、次のようなコメントが届いた。

Awesome! Keep it up! Would you like to be YouTube friends? 

Great vid. More please! Can We be Youtube Friends?

YouTube Friendsがどんなものかわからないので、次のように返した。

I don’t Know what YouTube Friends mean.

返事はなかった。

別の人からは、メールでやり取りしたいと言ってきた。

ちょっと面倒だなと感じたので、放っておいたら、私のメールアドレスを探し当てたらしく、メールが届いていた。

XMSについての問い合わせだった。

英語圏の人たちからの英文が、常に良い英文とは限らない。文法の間違いは問題ではない。趣旨がはっきりしないのが困る。

今回の英文はその意味でちゃんとしていたので、XMSのアダプターがEbayに出ているから購入したらいいと返事を書いた。

さらに返事が返ってきた。

聞きたかったことはこちらだったのだろう。

BTWは、By the way（ところで）の略だそうである。

Leakの愛好家の間では、leakのメインアンプはよいとしてプリアンプの音は認められていないらしい。YouTubeで私の音を聴いて、Leakのプリアンプに関して考えを新たにしたらしい。それで質問してきた。

１．      Leakのプリアンプが独自に動作するような電源を使っているのか。

２．      変更したセットアップに対して、コネクトケーブルはどのようにしているのか。

次がそのメールである。

Thanks a lot for your returning mail. Your heads up about the ebay listing of the Type B adaptor together with a 78 RPM Decca XMS is very much appreciated. I would try to get my hand on it.

BTW, it looks like if I have the opportunity visiting Tokyo next time, I would have to visit your shop and audition your great setup live.

Other than the decca XMS, the next thing I would like to explore with you is about the Leak pre amp. As you know well, the Leak pre amp has to draw power from the Leak power amp, a lot of the so-called "expert" Leak amp players/fans like me, would avoid using the Leak pre amp and wishfully thinking that the preamp would degrade the performance of the Leap amp. Hence those Leak pre amp could be have at very cheap price comparing to the Leak amplifier itself.

However, through your youtube video, I am convinced that as a Leak amp fans, I should try a matching Leak pre and power amp setup. I think it sounds so "right". I am sure a lot is attributed to your very "human" modification on the pre and power to make them sing as a pair.

Here is my question on Leak preamp.

1. Do you have a power supply made for the Leak pre amp so that it can operate on its own?

2. How do you normally connect the Leak pre amp with the Leak power amp in a modified setup?

Lets keep the email in a manageable length. I will save some other questions for future communication.

まあよくあることだけど、誰かがLeakのプリアンプが良くないと言い出せば、その尻馬に乗る人がどんどん出てくるのだろう。

それが雑誌に出ていれば、てきめんである。

だから私は仲間なんて作らないし、雑誌も読まないのだ。

好みの音など個人的なものだ。絶対的な良い音などどこにもない。

私好みの音を好きになってくださる人にだけ、購入していただければ十分である。

さて、返事を書かねばならない。10年以上にわたって少しずつ改良してきたノウハウを教えてくれと言われているようにも感じる。

その辺くぎを刺して、質問には答えてあげることにした。

１．      プリアンプ用にほかの電源は使っていない。メインアンプの下の木製の箱には、ペーパーインオイルコンデンサが入っていて、電解コンデンサと置き換えてある。プリアンプへの給電はそれでまかなっている・

２．      メインアンプからの給電だから、インターコネクトケーブルはそのままである。

I have been making a study of getting a good sound from Leak amplifiers for about ten years.

It is a long time for me to upgrade the old Leak amplifiers.

I am selling Leak amplifiers for my customers who love my sound.

So I don't like to feel free to teach you how to upgrade your Leak amplifiers.

However I will respond your question on Leak preamp.

I don't use another power supply made for my Leak preamp.

But I am trying to get a good power supply.

You should be able to see the wooden box beneath my amplifiers.

The box has a lot of old paper in oil capacitors for power supply.

I don't like electrolytic capacitors.

So I replace electrolytic capacitors with old paper in oil capacitors.

As my preamp gets a power supply from the power amplifier, the interconnect cable is normal.
